If your wiper blades seem to be squeaking more than usual, they may need replacing. However, it’s not a quick fix you will have to first remove them and dry them out so that the new ones can stick easier. Here are some steps on how to replace car wiper blades.
1) Remove the old blades by turning on your windshield wipers and then pulling up in a straight line from the blade until it comes off of its mount at the bottom of your windshield (you may have to repeat this process for both sides).
2) Then, hold the old blades by their mounts with tweezers and drop them into a plastic baggy or a jar with a lid. This will protect them while they dry out.
3) Take your old blades to your nearest auto parts store, where they will be able to give you the size and type of new replacement blades you need. It is recommended that you replace one blade on each side of your car at the same time.
4) When you buy your new wiper blades, take them home and open the package. Do not touch the part of the new blades that is going to make contact with your windshield. This would cause oil and dirt to adhere to it, which would make it harder for the new wiper blades to stick onto your windshield.
5) Pour rubbing alcohol on a lint-free towel and wipe off the part of the blade that will be making contact with your windshield.
6) Carefully press one end of each blade onto its mount on your car. Then use a twisting motion until they latch onto place. Repeat this process for both sides of your car’s windshield.
7) Now, turn your windshield wipers on and run them for a few minutes to ensure they are sticking correctly. Turn them off and clean any extra residue from your windshield with a paper towel.
Conclusion:
A car is a costly necessity for many people. So, you must maintain it well and keep it safe. If your wipers are not in good condition, it could lead to a bad situation. Therefore, to avoid this situation from taking place, first make sure you look out for any problem and get them repaired before they cause an accident.
